Il Ghorfa is a quaint, traditional gozitan house with many original features including lovely tiled floors and an outside stone staircase. Down a small alley, the entrance leads you into the walled pool area with outdoor shower, a dining area and loungers. From here, a door leads into the ground floor, which has an open plan kitchen, dining area and living room with a wood- burning stove. There is plenty of on street parking at the end of the alley.
One staircase leads down to two double bedrooms and a shower room whilst a spiral staircase leads up to the first floor. Here there is a double bedroom with a Juliet balcony overlooking the pool, a twin room with en suite and a separate shower room.
The spiral staircase then continues up to a cute double bedroom with ensuite and a terrace with lovely views out to sea.
The house is located in the charming village of Gharb with many restaurants, shops and a pharmacy. The Inland sea and spectacular blue hole are a short drive from here as is the local craft village. Also close by is the fabulous church of ta Pinu that, since the rumour started in 1883 of our Lady of Ta ‘Pinu talking to a local, has been a pilgrim destination for many. Visitors have included St John Paul 11 and Pope Benedict XV1.
The capital of Victoria is a ten minute drive away with all its restaurants, shops and banks, not to mention the stunning Citadella from which you get a 360 view of the Island.
The house has fans and, air conditioning in the bedrooms, for both cold air and heat. The air conditioning units are operated using prepaid Eur10 cards.
